Port Charlotte SYC: 01 2013 54.4%

A Port Charlotte 10 Year Old 2013 SYC: 01 from Islay’s Bruichladdich distillery. Crafted from Scottish barley. The grain was malted to 40PPM giving this whisky a great heavily peated character. 

The spirit was initially matured in a combination of first-fill and second-fill bourbon barrels. Then after five years the whisky was transferred for finishing in first-fill syrah red wine casks before being bottled at 54.4% abv. 

This is a rich, smoky, complex whisky with notes of vanilla, honey, spice and red fruit flavours.
