Released in 2019, Macallan Edition No.5 was the penultimate release in the acclaimed Edition Series and celebrated one of the distillery's defining characteristics: the rich natural colour developed entirely through maturation in oak casks. Created in collaboration with the Pantone Colour Institute, this release featured a bespoke shade of purple inspired by the spectrum of natural colours found in Macallan whisky, reflecting the artistry and precision behind every cask selection.

Bottled at 48.5% ABV, Macallan Edition No.5 was matured in a carefully balanced combination of first-fill American oak ex-bourbon barrels together with first and second-fill American oak and European oak sherry-seasoned hogsheads and butts.

 This diverse cask recipe delivers a vibrant, contemporary style of Macallan, with notes of vanilla, toffee, citrus, nutmeg and warming oak spice, while retaining the rich depth and elegance for which the distillery is renowned.
