A single cask Macallan 2005 18-year-old Speyside single malt whisky, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in 2024 for their acclaimed Speymalt range.

This 18-year-old Macallan 2005 Speymalt was matured in first fill sherry hogshead cask 22606308, which yielded 338 bottles at a robust natural cask strength of 56.7%. The whisky’s rich golden-amber colour points to a generous sherry influence, while the smaller hogshead format should have encouraged plenty of interaction between spirit and oak during its 18 years of maturation.

Gordon & MacPhail’s Speymalt series remains one of the few opportunities to find mature, sherry-matured Macallan from an independent bottler, and these single casks continue to offer remarkable value compared with similarly aged official releases. A particularly tempting full-strength Speymalt from a first fill sherry hogshead.
