An old bottle of Glenmorangie 1979, bottled in 1995 as the first of a pair of limited small-batch releases of the vintage, with a second following in 1996.

Distilled at Glenmorangie in 1979 and matured entirely in traditional oak casks, this was bottled at 40% after around 15 or 16 years of maturation. These 1970s vintage Glenmorangies have developed a strong reputation, showing the distillery’s elegant Highland character with sweet malt, gentle fruit and subtle hints of smoke and coastal salinity.

Despite being bottled in 1995, by which time Glenmorangie had already established itself as a pioneer of wine-cask finishing, the 1979 was matured without a secondary wine-cask finish, offering a relatively unadorned example of old-school Glenmorangie.
