Distilled at Fettercairn in October 2012 and matured for 10 years before being bottled by Douglas Laing in December 2022 for their Provenance range.

This Highland single malt was drawn from a single refill hogshead, cask DL16936, yielding 398 bottles at 46% ABV. As with other Provenance releases, it was bottled without chill filtration or added colouring.

Douglas Laing's Provenance range showcases single cask and small batch whiskies from distilleries across Scotland, traditionally bottled at 46% ABV to retain the individual character of the spirit and cask.

Douglas Laing's tasting notes describe a whisky bigger than the colour suggests, with a red jam quality amongst dry, spicy oak and a full mouthcoating, tingly piquancy, gentle oak and cough-syrup character. The finish carries these elements through to malted barley and heartening fresh fruit.

Fettercairn is notable for the unusual cooling rings fitted around the necks of its spirit stills. Cold water runs down the outside of the copper during distillation, encouraging additional reflux and helping to create the lighter, fruit-driven character associated with the distillery's new make spirit.
