Beskrivning

Busnel Calvados Pays d'Auge Hors d'Age is an apple brandy aged a minimum of 12 years — a dark, complex expression from the highest-ranked Calvados appellation in Normandy.

Busnel is one of the leading names in Calvados, drawing on a tradition handed down since 1820. Its Calvados is built from more than 20 apple varieties grown in the Pays d'Auge, an appellation set between two rivers with varied soils — sandy, silty, clay, and chalk — each producing different apples across four groups: bitter, bittersweet, sweet, and sour. The Hors d'Age blend is aged at least 12 years in oak, developing depth and concentration that bring it closer to a fine aged cognac in complexity.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does Hors d'Age mean? Literally "beyond age" — a designation for Calvados aged well beyond the minimum, here at least 12 years.
  • How does it compare to the Fine? The Fine is aged about two years and is fresh and fruit-forward; the Hors d'Age spends 12+ years in oak, gaining dark fruit, spice, and far greater complexity.
  • How should I serve it? Best enjoyed neat as a digestif, like a fine aged brandy.
