Benromach 40 Year Old 2022 Release Batch 1
Beskrivning
Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Distillery Bottling 70cl / 57.6%
A superb Benromach 40 Year Old, bottled on 29th December 2021 as Batch 1 of the 2022 Release. Distilled in the early 1980s and matured for four full decades in sherry casks, this limited edition was bottled at its natural cask strength of 57.6%, with an outturn of just 1,132 bottles.
Benromach upgraded its 40 Year Old from 43% to cask strength with the 2021 release, bottled at 57.1%, which went on to win Double Gold and Best in Show at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. This Batch 1 2022 Release was its successor, despite having actually been bottled at the very end of 2021, and appeared at an even higher natural strength of 57.6%.
Distilled before Benromach fell silent in 1983, this remarkable 40-year-old comes from stocks laid down during an earlier chapter in the distillery’s history, long before Gordon & MacPhail acquired and revived Benromach in the 1990s. A particularly scarce old Speyside malt and one of the standout releases from Benromach’s modern prestige range.

Official Tasting Notes
Nose: Ripe red apple aromas infuse with fragrant clove and ginger spice. Dried fruit notes develop alongside tangerine peel and subtle beeswax polish.
Palate: Orange oil gives way to a stewed raisin with spicy black pepper. Raspberry compote and walnut flavours lead to soft dried tobacco and charred oak.
Finish: A full, lingering finish with festive spices.
